The Washington DC chapter of Dream On 3 launched in late 2018 and recently its Director, Dr. Jacqueline Collamore, partnered with Ivymount School for the chapter’s first Day Dream. Ivymount is a local educational facility that strives to meet the needs of children who have learning disabilities, speech/language impairments, and autism spectrum disorders.
The Day Dream kids had the special opportunity to attend a Washington Wizards game, sit in one of Capital One’s fabulous suites, and enjoy the fantastic view of the court. The kids and their families had dinner, beverages, and, according to David (one of the Dream Kids), some of the best popcorn he had ever had!
The experience was truly heartwarming. One attendee, Carly, came dressed as a cheerleader. One father stated that he had never been able to take all of his children out to enjoy an evening – this was his first time! Another set of parents smiled and said thank you, because they had never been able to sit together to enjoy a night out.
The Dream Kids and their families were completely surprised when 7’7” Wizards alum, Gheorghe Muresan, stopped by the suite to say hi to everyone. He was very giving of his time, allowing each child the opportunity for a picture with this basketball icon.
On behalf of Dr. Collamore and the entire Dream On 3 staff, we would like to thank everyone involved in making this evening a fantastic Day Dream experience. Thank you to Washington DC Board Member, Susie Canton, for providing each child with a Wizards tee. Also, a huge thank you to David Kaufman of Ameritel. David secured the suite for our group and we are so grateful.
Based on the wonderful success of this Day Dream, our team is excited about making many more dreams come true in the DC area!
