Huddling Up with the Autism Society of North Charlotte
On Sunday, July 14, Dream On 3 teamed up with the Autism Society to host 70 area youth and their families at a Charlotte Knights baseball game. Dream On 3 hosts multiple events like this throughout the year as part of our “Day Dream Program“. Through this program, our staff team works with local healthcare and family support organizations to select qualified participants to be a part of local sports experiences that include *special* V.I.P. treatment and opportunities.
Game Time Fun!
Upon entering the Knights Stadium, the kids in attendance were thrilled to meet a couple of their favorite Super Heroes! Web shooting crime fighter, Spiderman, was there as well as Black Panther – king of the (fictional) African nation of Wakanda. Needless to say, everyone was THRILLED to get their pictures taken and high five these popular characters!
After meeting the Super Hero duo, many of the children had “game time opportunities“. They were able to assist with the placing of the bases, throw out a ceremonial first pitch, and run out with the players during introductions.
One thankful mom stated,
“Dream on 3 keeps our child’s spirit alive in meeting athletes and knowing that they can overcome any obstacle and not let anything stop them from achieving their goals. I remember when the doctors told us that our son may never speak and yet, he now lives to scream for his favorite athletes and “play ball” before a game starts.”
Despite the 95 degree heat, the children were all smiles and enthusiasm! For many children in attendance, this was their first experience attending a baseball game and they were very excited and grateful.
This Day Dream knocked it out of the park!
