Love Makes A Family
A Dream On 3 Homecoming
August 4, 2018 (Charlotte, NC)
Have you ever heard the quote, “love makes a family”? Our Dream On 3 family isn’t as much about genetics as it is about the precious relationships we’ve developed with our Dream Kids, their families, our volunteers and healthcare partners. Last weekend, we had the chance to get most of them back together for our Annual Alumni Event.
The Hendrick Team Center was the perfect location, and thanks to Piedmont Triad Productions the space was transformed into a beautiful setting complete with fine linens, beautiful flowers and the glow of candles. As each of our Dream V.I.P.s walked in the door, we watched their eyes light up and smiles spread across their faces.
In addition to a beautiful atmosphere, kids and adults had plenty of fun entertainment. Guests enjoyed air brushed tattoos by Spray A Tat, a red carpet photo opportunity courtesy of BAW Photography & Two Minds Design, a hysterical photo booth by Charlotte Photo Booth Fun and delicious food provided by The Smoke Pit.
Looking back at the night, it was easy to see why this was such a sweet and very special event.
Dream kids would search the room, longing to reunite with their Dream On 3 team members and when their friends were located, it was all hugs and high fives!
Dream families were also emotional as they embraced others who had shared similar experiences and celebrated their children in unique ways. It was a homecoming celebration where stories of growth were exchanged, and hearts were united. Life long connections were made and new Dream On 3 family members were added.
Now let’s talk about the dance floor. The kids might say it was “lit,” their words not ours. For us, there are no words to describe the fun that was had doing the Kiki Challenge, the Wobble or just free-styling to all the old and new favorites. Split Second Sound provided a DJ and a percussionist who played drums that provided their own entertainment – colors pumped to the beat of the music and lit up the dance floor!
Special thanks to our amazing Alumni Committee made up of volunteers, Amelia White and Dana Hufford, “Dream Moms,” Kim Rogers, Tawanna Hinton, Jennifer Lumley and Hilary Cherniss.
We’d also like to thank some dedicated and wonderful event volunteers, Buzz Wilkie and his daughters, Diana & Gracie Gambrell, Meagan Savage and Charles Sharp.
The night was a success and we’re already counting down the days until next year!
The COMPLETE album will be available on August 11th, however for more photos click here
