A Homecoming Fit For A Princess

The purpose of a Homecoming is welcoming students, alumni and the community and this year Cannon School welcomed Dream Kid Maggie as a guest of honor. The school, students and Jr. Dream Team used their homecoming weekend as her special celebration!

At the Friday night football game, Cannon students crowned Maggie their honorary Homecoming Queen and helped her crown the rest of her court. Maggie also cheered hard with the school’s varsity cheerleaders, and helped sell tickets for a 50/50 raffle to help support her dream! Bright and early Saturday morning, the Jr. Dream Team helped organize a 5k and Fun Run, with part of the proceeds going to Maggie’s dream. They all spent the morning cheering on participants and running with Maggie for what turned out to be the largest turn-out for this event.

For members of the Dream Team, this weekend became an amazing opportunity to get to know Maggie better and show her how much they care. They hope that the special weekend showed Maggie just how much Cannon School loves her and how honored they are to help make her dream come true!

Aside from being a really fun weekend, the Jr. Dream Team learned valuable leadership skills. They rallied the support of the entire school and increased awareness about the work they are doing to help make Maggie’s Dream of cheering with the Orlando Magic Dancers become a reality. Their raffle raised $337 and they got one step closer to helping Maggie get to Florida. Maggie will always be special to the Jr. Dream Team and they hope that she truly felt like this weekend was a “homecoming!”
