Dream Kid Passion

My dream is to meet my NBA hero, Steph Curry and watch him play!

Meet Passion, 15-year-old from Salisbury. Like most teenage guys, he is full of energy and loves sports, especially basketball. In fact, most days you could find Passion on the court with his friends shooting hoops. Last September, Passion took a fall while playing basketball and the injury to his head was severe enough to require surgery, during which he suffered a stroke. After hospitalization, five surgeries, and a great deal of therapy, Passion is learning all over again to walk, talk, and play the game he loves.

Even though Passion has been presented with life-changing challenges, his spirit is very upbeat! When we met Passion for the first time he was smiling and we even got a little singing and dancing, needless to say, he has worked hard to get back to where he is now and the road to recovery will continue. In fact, most days you could find Passion on the court with his friends shooting hoops. His Dream: Before his injury, Passion played basketball for his school and was known by his teammates as “The Middle School Steph Curry.” Passion loves to cheer on the Golden State Warriors, and hopes to be an NBA player one day! His dream was to meet his NBA hero, Steph Curry and watch him play! On February 22nd, we surprised Dream Kid Passion at Levine Children’s Hospital where we told him he would be meeting his sports hero! We then took him, along with Dream Kid Iziah, to Atlanta to cheer on the Golden State Warriors as they took on the hawks. Everyone made it safely to The Ritz-Carlton in Atlanta and shortly after the families were treated to dinner courtesy of Taco Mac. Once the tanks were refueled it was off to Philips Stadium where the teens sat courtside during warm up for a close-up look at Steph Curry’s pre-game rituals. As soon as the last warm-up basket dropped everyone was whisked away through the tunnel for a private meet and greet for both teens. Curry spent a generous amount of one-on-one time with Iziah and Passion, signing all their memorabilia, talking and even doing some dancing! And the best part, the evening had just began! Iziah and Passion ran out of the tunnel as if they were about to play in the big game and then took their seats to watch Curry and the Warriors dominate, #30 leads the team with 36 points on 22shots for a final score of 102-92!

Passion is living with severe head trauma and is re-learning motor skills.
