Dream Kid Jaquan

My dream is to cheer on my favorite team, the Clemson Tigers play a game in Death Valley!

Jaquan is a 17-year-old Charlotte teen living with autism. He is currently a senior at Mallard Creek High School. His ability to interact with others is often impacted due to the challenge of effectively communicating his wants and needs. He also suffers from anxiety and difficulty sleeping.

The Sendoff: On Friday, November 20th, Jaquan’s peers and teachers at Mallard Creek High School helped us give him an incredible surprise sendoff. Sometimes loud noises and lots of excitement can be a lot for Jaquan but not at his sendoff, he was the loudest one in the room! He was all smiles and full of excitement as he chanted “Clemson! Jaquan! Clemson!”  The energy was contagious.

His Dream: Jaquan is a HUGE college football fan! He shows his passion for football in how he spends his free time, which includes everything from collected sports illustrated magazines to watching football clips on youtube. His favorite team? The Clemson Tigers! Jaquan’s dream of going to a Clemson football came true on November 21st, in the last home game of the season. Jaquan was welcomed to the Clemson Family by many. After arriving, he was given a tour of campus by Caroline Anderson, a Clemson student and friend. Jaquan and his family also got to check out the Clemson Marching Band Practice! The next day, Jaquan enjoyed the morning tailgating with Clemson Life, a unique program for people with intellectual disabilities. Then Jaquan’s dream of watching a Clemson home game came true! With the help of Dabo’s All In Foundation, he was able to check out the sidelines before the game. One of Jaquan’s favorite things about College Football is listening to the sports commentators. He was thrilled to have the opportunity to see what its like to be one in Clemson’s press box! He loved meeting Don Munson, whose daughter also has autism! Jaquan’s Dream Experience wrapped up with an awesome Clemson win!
